Political Silence

It's finally over...the ads, the phone calls, the anxiety, the attacks, the tweets, Facebook updates and incessant pushing of beliefs on others. I woke up this morning and the first thing I thought was, "Finally some silence" It was honestly a little bit of a letdown, after all the excitement and hype, but I was not prepared for the bombardment of negativity and hate via social media this morning. It made me so sad to see people who have given up on the next four years, and have already fast forwarded mentally to 2016, just because of who was elected. Making predictions about this "financial cliff" and have no hope that anything can be accomplished in the next four years.  I believe that politics should be a private and personal thing, just because it is so polarizing and emotional for a lot of people. But it seems like nothing can be private and personal anymore, and politics are just another reason for people to attack each other for being different. It's all the finger pointing, name calling, conspiracy theory, personal agenda pushing, bi-partisan attitude that keeps us from making progress. From moving forward. I don't want to blast my political opinions over the interwebs, but I honestly am not sure that any candidate was equipped to deal with the mess we are currently in. Not a Republican or a Democrat, liberal or conservative, rich or poor, white or black, if this country can't come together to support the foundations that this country was built on, we will never make progress.I can just hope and pray that after the initial political hangover wears off, that people will be hopeful for the future and that political factions can be pushed aside so we can move forward.
